Linda Frizzell, PhD (Eastern Cherokee and
Lakota) - Assistant Professor
Dr.
Frizzell has extensive practice in rural and Indian health care administration.
She holds a doctorate degree in physiology, education administration,
gerontology, and a masters in adaptive physical education, and coaching.
Her endeavors have included a broad range of professional preparations
both in medicine and education, dedicated to improvement of quality
of life across the life span; and has provided numerous testimonies
in regard to health care policy. Her specialties include: Health Services
Administration, Clinic Management, Rural & Indian Health Policy
and Legislation, Health and Education Research, Community Assessment,
Exercise Physiology, Health Education, Physical Rehabilitative Therapy,
Service Learning Administration, and Therapeutic Recreation.
Additionally, she was chosen to be in the first class of Rural Health
Fellows, a program initiated by the Office of Rural Health Policy and
continues to serve as technical adviser for the Indian Health Care Improvement
Act.

Author of "The Greater Leech Lake Health Care and Wellness System
Project". This document was prepared to address Indian reservation
health care issues and needs under the auspices of: P.L. 102-573, Sec.
307 (a) HEALTH CARE DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS. This $13,396,779 annual
budget, 226-page proposal was presented to the Indian Health Service
in Rockville, Maryland, January 19, 1994.
Participated in the Rural Health Care Summit '94, St. Cloud, representing
Reservation interests and advocating for Indian rights.
Pioneered the establishment of channels of communication and assistance
for rural health issues with the State of Minnesota Department of Health,
Office of Rural Health, and the University of Minnesota Department of
Rural Health, 1993-95.
Broke ground for new cooperation's between regional public sector health
care providers, the Indian Health Service, and the Leech Lake Tribal
Health Division, by establishing an avenue for networking with these
organizations, 1993-94.

"Older Developmentally Disabled Adults and Leisure: Issues, Problems
