A Democratic group of lawmakers in South Dakota introduced a bill to ban new liquor licenses within four miles of sacred Bear Butte.

HB1227 would exempt business within the boundaries of Sturgis, the site of an annual biker rally. Tribal members and spiritual leaders have complained that encroachment from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is harming Bear Butte.
