November 2, 2009 - Training available in the clinical application of Honoring Children, Mending the Circle

The Indian Country Child Trauma Center will be offering training in the clinical application of Honoring Children, Mending the Circle, which is the cultural adaptation of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

They received a grant from the Children's Bureau to provide 4 trainings a year under the Project Making Medicine program. If you are a clinician and work with a tribe or tribal organization, you are eligible to apply for the training. The first session is scheduled for November 16-19, 2009 at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.

The goals are to address the childhood trauma and to decrease the impact of trauma reactions and increase the capacity of children and family to function more adequately. They also work to decrease the overall violence exposure of tribal children and their families.

There is no registration fee and there is limited funding available for lodging and travel for one person per site.
