Abstract
Through its Recovery Community Support Program grant, the Pascua Yaqui Community Change Oriented Recovery Effort (C-CORE) provides quality, competent and culturally compatible peer services to tribal and community members exploring or seeking support in ending substance dependence. It promotes healing, wellness, and sobriety for individuals, families, and the community. C-CORE is establishing a strong group of peer leaders from three different areas and providing them experiences that will help them provide services to others. The services benefit the community by 1) creating a culture where sobriety is a norm, 2) decreasing the stigma around recovery that is particular to this community; and 3) encouraging tribal and community members to support each other in creating a healthy community that is free of addiction and its associated physical, social, and behavioral health challenges. |
